At our first Becoming Her Mini-Retreat, held on September 11th and 12th in Pelzer SC, women and girls gathered together with different stories, different ages and different experiences.
But we had something in common.
We were all BECOMING!
There were conversations. There was laughter. There was worship. There was sisterhood.
But there was also an invitation to let go.
Because sometimes we can’t move freely into what God has for us while tightly holding onto what He is asking us to surrender.
Fear, Comparison, Jealousy, People Pleasing, Old Labels were the topics of discussion. We had a panel of five ladies who had been given question beforehand, with the topic. “Dear Younger Me.”
We had break-out sessions with speakers, Shereese Ramsey and Robin Shockley.
It was a great weekend of sisterhood connections, a live butterfly release, and most importantly giving God praise for all He’s done for us and breaking chains. It was an amazing weekend, and the start of something God has begun in me personally.
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” — Psalm 139:14
Becoming Isn’t About Becoming Someone Else
For a long time, I think we can misunderstand transformation.
We think becoming means we need to fix ourselves, reinvent ourselves, or somehow become a better version of the woman standing next to us.
But that’s not what I believe God is asking of us.
Becoming Her isn’t about changing who God created you to be. It’s about removing everything that has kept you from becoming her.
Psalm 139 reminds us that God knew us before anyone else had an opinion about us.
Before the rejection.
Before the disappointment.
Before the mistakes.
Before the labels.
Before the comparison.
Before we learned to hide parts of ourselves.
God knew.
And He created intentionally.
That means our journey isn’t about creating a new identity.
It’s about discovering who we are in Him.

Your Story Isn’t Wasted
Maybe you’re reading this and thinking:
But you don’t know what I’ve been through.
You’re right.
I don’t.
But God does.
He knows every chapter—the ones you celebrate and the ones you wish you could tear out of the book.
And somehow, in the hands of God, even the chapters we would rather erase can become part of a testimony that helps another woman.
Your story doesn’t disqualify you from becoming.
It may actually become part of how God uses you.
A Question for You
Take a few quiet minutes today and ask yourself:
What is keeping me from becoming the woman God created me to be?
Don’t rush your answer.
Maybe it’s fear.
Maybe it’s someone’s opinion.
Maybe it’s something from your past.
Maybe it’s the pressure to have everything together.
Maybe it’s simply that you’ve forgotten who you are.
Write it down.
Then ask another question:
What does God say about me?
Let His truth speak louder than the voices that have shaped how you see yourself.
A Prayer for the Woman Who Is Becoming
Father,
Thank You that You knew me before the world knew me.
Thank You that I am not an accident, an afterthought, or the sum of everything that has happened to me.
Show me anything I am carrying that You never intended for me to carry.
Help me release the fear, comparison, expectations, hurt and false identities that have kept me from walking freely in who You created me to be.
Teach me to see myself through Your eyes.
Give me courage for the next step, even when I can’t see the entire journey.
And remind me that I don’t have to become someone else.
I simply want to become the woman You created me to be.
Help me become her.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Thank you for taking the time to read. I hope you’ll continue to follow along on my website and social media as I discover where God is taking me and continue becoming the woman He created me to be.- Philippians 1:6
